We invite local groups and whaanau to make the most of our facilities.
GardensThe fertile soil of our mountain has been supporting communities since the arrival of the first inhabitants. We are keeping alive the traditional ways of cultivating food and medicinal plants on the rich volcanic slopes of Mangere Mountain. See the traces of gardens from hundreds of years ago, learn about heritage Māori crops – and see them growing.
Visitor CentreIn our Visitor Centre you’ll encounter informative displays, audio-visual materials and artefacts dating back centuries. Admission is free. You will find a rewarding introduction to the Mountain, its history and its people. Feel free to have a look around, chat to our staff about arranging a guided walk over the mountain.
